The VM-550 is a general-purpose locator for detecting buried pipes and cables across a wide range of applications. It combines a 50/60Hz passive power mode with three active locating frequencies, making it well suited to anyone who needs to confirm the presence of live power cables and trace services over short distances.
The 1-Watt transmitter applies a locate signal by direct connection or induction, and optional induction clamps allow the signal to be applied around a line without breaking into it. The transmitter also carries an 8kHz Fault-Find frequency, so when paired with the VM-510 Stand Alone A-Frame, the VM-550 can pinpoint ground-to-sheath faults on cable.
