The CHCNAV i85 is a pocket-sized IMU-RTK GNSS receiver with an integrated laser, letting surveyors measure remote or inaccessible points from a distance. Compact and lightweight with tilt compensation, it keeps you productive in tight or awkward spots without sacrificing centimetre accuracy. Supplied and supported in the UK by Tri-Site Survey Equipment.

Product Features
True 8MP Long-Range Camera
The industry's first true 8MP high-definition camera works like a telescope, keeping distant targets crisp and clearly defined even when zoomed in — so operators can aim and capture points confidently without visual distortion or blur.
Smart Auto-Focus
A high-performance embedded processor powers real-time image processing with ultra-low latency, automatically adjusting focus and zoom to the user's behaviour and assisting point capture after a brief aiming period — minimising handling and boosting productivity.
All-Day Endurance & Rugged Build
Up to 20 hours of UHF RTK rover operation, an IP68-rated housing and 2m pole-drop survival make the i85 dependable for full days in demanding field conditions.
Laser Survey for Inaccessible Points
A survey-grade laser module captures 3D coordinates of previously unreachable points — across rivers, behind barriers or near hazardous zones — accurate to 2cm within 5m and 3cm within 10m. Data collection efficiency improves by more than 50%, cutting capture time from minutes to seconds.
Detailed Specifications
Measure Points You Cannot Physically Reach:
The i85's built-in laser rangefinder lets you capture survey-grade 3D coordinates from points you cannot get a pole to - the top of a wall, the face of a cliff, the edge of a deep excavation, or the centre of a road you cannot safely stand on. With IMU tilt compensation active, measurements remain accurate even when the receiver is not perfectly level. Accuracy is 2 cm at 5 metres and 3 cm at 10 metres.
Reliable Fix in Challenging GNSS Environments:
The i85's iStar algorithm and ionospheric interference rejection maintain a 96% fix reliability even in the low-latitude, high solar activity conditions that cause other receivers to struggle. In the UK context this translates to more consistent performance in wooded areas, urban canyons, and near tall structures - the environments where RTK fix reliability matters most.
See What You Are Aiming At - 8 MP Camera with 6x Zoom:
A true 8-megapixel front camera with edge-computing-enhanced adaptive 6x zoom gives you a clear view of distant or low-visibility targets before you take a measurement. Pair this with the AR stakeout display and you can navigate to a design point visually on screen - reducing the chance of errors and cutting stakeout time by up to 50% compared to conventional methods.
AR Navigation and Stakeout Built In:
Augmented reality stakeout overlays design coordinates directly onto the camera view, showing exactly where to place the pole relative to where you are standing. The i85's AR stakeout is up to 10 times more accurate than gyroscope-based systems, meaning it is genuinely usable rather than a marketing feature - particularly valuable for less experienced operators or high-volume stakeout programmes.
Auto-Tilt IMU No Levelling Required:
The 200Hz IMU activates automatically with no manual initialisation - just pick up the receiver and start measuring. It maintains 3 cm accuracy across a 60 degree tilt range, so you can take measurements from awkward angles, in confined spaces, or at the edge of features without waiting for a bubble to settle. On a busy survey day this adds up to a significant saving in time.
PointSky Satellite Correction No Base Station Needed:
PointSky is CHCNAV's satellite-delivered positioning correction service - it provides centimetre-level RTK accuracy anywhere with clear sky visibility, without requiring a local base station or a data connection for NTRIP corrections. The i85 includes one year of PointSky as standard. For surveyors working in remote locations, on large sites away from a base, or anywhere mobile data coverage is unreliable, PointSky removes a significant operational constraint.
